The creamy mauves and purples of this glorious vine, with its luscious flowers, emerged as I started to paint this canvas for the third time (I paint over canvases that don’t come out properly and just start again…). The pale blues offset the yellow ochre tones and the signature drips worked really well.
Thunbergia has the most glorious blooms and I have tried growing it in my own garden but to no avail. I think I am better at painting flowers rather than growing them! The island of Antigua, where I live, is very dry, with no fresh water sources so we mostly have to rely on rainwater. But the tropical climate is most agreeable and the island itself very friendly.
