Seascape with Palms
This seascape, with blue palms and a foaming sea, was the result of the 4th attempt at covering this canvas. The abstract overtones in the form of vertical drips were obtained by using gravity: tilting the canvas and holding it at different angles produced these effects. The different textures also contributed to the overall mystery of the piece. I deliberately limited the palette to blues and greens with white accents and yet the variation in tones kept the necessary interest. The seascape has a Caribbean theme, being as I am based in Antigua, and yet the colors are quite muted compared to the usual Caribbean style art, with its bright colors and sharply defined subjects.
