Project Description

Hawksbill Turtle

Lumbering creatures on land, the hawksbill turtle is wondrously agile in the water. Beautiful creatures, they are often seen in the crystal clear waters off the Antiguan coast. Turtles return to nest at the same places each year and there is a very successful ongoing turtle project at Jumby Bay on Long Island, Antigua. They tag the turtles and visitors to the island are able to go turtle watching at night when the eggs are being laid and later when the baby turtles hatch.
